"Every Jew is a letter. Each community a sentence. The Jewish people — the strangest and most moving story in the annals of mankind."

Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks
Our Vision
To foster an Israeli society that maintains a vibrant, living connection with Jewish individuals and communities worldwide, empowering mutual responsibility and the collective resilience of our people. Joint initiative of the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI).

The Story of AMI: It's About People

The Jewish story is a living, breathing tapestry of millions of faces, voices, and communities, spanning from ancient times to the present and continuing to be written into the future. At AMI – The National Alliance Strengthening Israelis’ Connection to World Jewry – we believe that the Israeli story is incomplete as long as we remain strangers to our own brothers and sisters around the world.

We bridge the gap between hearts and minds, moving beyond abstract concepts to create real, unmediated encounters between Israelis and their global Jewish family. When an Israeli commander or student meets a Jewish peer from around the world, the “story” becomes a friendship, and the “community” becomes a home.

What We Do

Leading from Within: Senior Leadership

We expand the worldview of Israel's most influential figures by connecting them with global Jewish perspectives, helping shape a leadership approach that reflects responsibility to the Jewish people worldwide.

Kol Yisrael (IDF)
Broadening the identity of IDF officers through deep study and immersive visits to Jewish communities around the world. This program fosters a profound understanding that Israeli reality deeply impacts global Jewry. As officers in the army of the Jewish State, they learn to view their service through a broader lens — realizing they represent the entire Jewish people, and that their mission ultimately defends our shared global future.
National Leadership Seminars
Professional training designed to place the contemporary Jewish world at the heart of the Israeli public agenda. This initiative is anchored in delegations within Israel that expose participants to the rich, diverse Jewish life outside of Israel and its unique challenges, fostering a deep sense of connection and responsibility. By doing so, the program engages senior stakeholders with the institutional capacity to shape policy, public discourse, education, and civic life.
Professional Development Seminars
While Israel is the state of the Jewish people, the topic of world Jewry is rarely addressed in standard leadership training. These professional development seminars were created to fill this gap by providing Israeli opinion leaders with deep insights into global Jewish communities. By combining engaging content with senior leadership tools, the program encourages participants to examine their roles through a broader, international lens. Ultimately, the goal is to integrate the global Jewish narrative into Israel's leadership agenda, inspiring participants as they guide Israeli society.
Senior Leadership Delegations
Broadening the perspectives of Israeli leaders through direct engagement with Jewish communities around the world, deepening their understanding of our shared connection and collective responsibility. The program inspires these senior leaders to actively utilize their immense organizational reach to initiate programming that drives meaningful awareness and tangible partnerships between Israeli society and world Jewry.

Side by Side: The Next Generation

Building impactful bonds between young Israelis and their global peers through shared action and dialogue.

The Connection Initiative (Meizam HaChibur)
Pairing Israeli Pre-Military Academies (Mechinot) with international Gap Year participants for a year of shared growth. The encounter is a structured process that unfolds over several months, consisting of multiple meetings that allow for a deeper and more meaningful connection to develop.
Masa Israel Teaching Fellows (MITF)
Connecting Jewish young adults from around the world with 16,000 Israeli students, turning English lessons into a bridge between cultures — and planting seeds of awareness and connection at a formative age.
Shoulder to Shoulder
Israelis and Jewish youth from around the world working the land together, building solidarity through shared volunteering and hands-on experience.
Mifgash (The Encounter)
Cultivating a new generation of Israeli student leaders who deeply understand the importance of the Jewish people's connection across the world — young men and women who will carry this knowledge into their careers, their families, and the generations that follow.
Connecting Worlds
Brings together Jews from Israel and around the world through a series of online encounters that foster meaningful dialogue, lasting relationships, and a deeper understanding of the diversity of Jewish life. By engaging students, educators, parents, and communities in sustained encounters, the program strengthens Jewish peoplehood, shared responsibility, and lasting connections between Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
